As 2021 ends and 2022 begins, we have a lot to look forward to. This year is going to look very different for us and that’s because we have exciting news to share. We’re expecting twins 🍼🍼! Boy-girl twins to be exact – due in March. We’re so looking forward to this next chapter. It sure is going to be an adventure! That being said, I’ve gone down a rabbit hole researching design ideas for our twin nursery. Today I’m excited to share the key ideas we have in mind as well as our design process approach. If you happen to be an expecting twin parent too, I hope you find this post helpful. Planning for two little ones can be a bit overwhelming, but at the same time isn’t it so much fun?

Layout & Furniture Selections
First thing’s first, taking a look at the nursery space and getting a general idea of the layout is key. We’re lucky enough to have a bedroom spacious enough to fit two cribs comfortably (along with additional furniture). We won’t have the exact layout nailed down until the furniture arrives, but we know enough at this point to be sure it will all fit. Since it takes a little longer to find out the genders with twins, we went ahead and purchased gender neutral furniture not long after we learned the big news (shown below).

Design Inspiration
Once we learned we were having a boy and a girl we decided to lean toward a Safari theme (including baby blue accents for him & pale pink accents for her). Below are some inspiration photos I saved on Pinterest prior to knowing the genders. Instead of researching twin nurseries specially, I drew inspiration from any nursery photo that sparked interest and then made note of what elements we’d apply to our space.
GENDER NEUTRAL
I love this light, bright and airy gender-neutral nursery. No specific theme, just a soft, neutral color palette.
The images below got me excited to add safari animal decor. It’s a great option for any combination of genders – boys, girls or boy & girl.
TWIN BOYS
These blue & white nautical nurseries below caught my eye for twin boys…
TWIN GIRLS
If we were having twin girls, I don’t think I could have resisted a Parisian theme. It’s just too cute!
Decor
Last but not least, the decor. I’m currently in the process of researching décor and I’ve pinned so many fun ideas. A few decor pieces I’ve been eyeing are linked in the collage below. Can’t wait to share more as the design process continues!
